I think and act in my own unique way rather than searching for and following the path of another. I rely on my perspective and abilities. My name is Carrie and I will often remind myself, when doing something new or difficult, to think and act in a way that aligns with who I am to
“Carrie it all up!”
I have acceptance for who I am and my flaws, others intuitively know they are safe to share with me. It is common for people to open up, completely unprompted.
This value encourages me to learn new things, approach topics or new endeavors with a beginner’s mind, and to sacrifice my ego for the sake of learning. I listen for understanding and ask questions. I am not afraid to admit "I don’t know," or to try something new.
Connection encourages me to "show-up" for others by listening empathically, performing a random act of kindness, or simply sharing a kind smile.
This value goes deeper than just social relationships. I also feel connection with the animals I am honored to work with, as well as the topics I study and art I create. Connection and Fun often go together as I am an extrovert and am energized when spending time with others.
Creativity encourages me to think laterally instead of linearly. It allows me to break down a learning objective into a process or develop a tool to communicate or teach a concept. Creativity can show up for me as problem solving, the ability to create something new, or an innovation to something that already exists.
Knowing that a value is an honest reflection of who I am helped me to understand the importance of play. It isn't often that I invest in an endeavor without a result in mind. A playful mindset allows me to release the need to produce a result and engage with something new. The value of play will often result in experimenting with new rules, changing an objective, or by introducing new variables just to see what happens.
As a Professional Certified Coach, (PCC) Carrie Dowling, helps people chart their own path by discovering their growth-based values.
She helps her clients recognize, and release, societal expectations, cultural programming, and internal and external judgement.
Carrie has been a coach since 2019. In 2022, she began to invest more time into understanding how her client’s culture, expectations, and judgement influenced their decision-making. This resulted in the discovery growth-based values.
After helping dozens of clients to discover their values, a common pattern emerged. The traditional model of values she had been taught, was, in fact, all wrong. Only growth-minded values could provide clarity.
Her clients no longer struggle with who they are, what they want, or with decision-making. Their values provide the answer.
Carrie's Background
Carrie's first few years were typical until her parents sold everything they owned to live on a 37 -foot sailboat in the Bahamas. This was not a luxury yatch. It had enough battery power to run a few lights at night. After a year, the family settled in South Florida, where Carrie remained until her parents divorce a decade later.
After College, she married and became a stay-at-home mother. She was active in the community volunteering and also in her son's schools. She even founded a youth rugby club that grew from one U14 boys team to be the largest and most inclusive club in the state in just two years. She did this while reorganizing the State Rugby Union to foster future growth as well as support the development of new teams.
Happily married for 30 years to a husband in two consecutive high divorce-rate careers, she has moved the household 13 times to different areas of the country far from family, friends, and support.
Through a DNA website, she discovered she had a half-sister who are delighting in learning about each other.
